We Need Your Help

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer at the 2018 Dismal Swamp Arts Festival! There's no way the Festival could happen without the support of volunteers from our community! It takes more than 100 volunteers and hundreds of hours to support this premier Virginia event. Volunteers are truly the life blood of the Chesapeake's Dismal Swamp Arts Festival!

Festival Greeters / Info Booth

If you like to smile and engage with people then sign up as a Festival Greeter. Greeters are needed inside the entrance gates and/or the Festival Information booth to welcome patrons, provide general directions to activities, artists and music and performance schedules.

Artist Booth Ambassadors

Artists Booth Sitter is a fun program area to volunteer for during the Dismal Swamp Arts Festival. Booth Sitters have a unique opportunity to support and get to know our artists. Volunteers will monitor an artist's booth while the artist takes a short 15-30 minute break during the day. Volunteers will not be asked to handle any money or artist transactions while the artist is away from their booth. Volunteers will also assist roaming the site to assist artists and other duties as set up direction.

Face Painters

Face Painting from Spiderman to Hello Kitty, Face Painting is one of the Arts Festivals most popular activities for little and big kids alike. Face painting is the perfect activity for professional, costume and theater make up artists as well as college art majors and high school art enthusiasts. All supplies (paints, brushes, templates, etc.) are provided. Volunteers will work from templates to create the happiest faces on the Festival grounds.
